PRESECOTT ENTERS KERN WINTER SHOWDOWN
Prescott Enjoys Challenge of Kern County Raceway as Winter Showdown Approaches
Bakersfield, CA – Andre Prescott has submitted his entry for the $10,000-to-win Seventh Annual “Winter Showdown” at Kern County Raceway Park on April 2nd. The Meza, AZ driver will make series start #12, looking for his first top-10 in the Spears Srl Southwest TourSeries in his family-owned effort. The low budget racer will be bringing his Port City Super Late Model, making his second start of the season.
Prescott is a fan of the larger tracks of the series, enjoying the competition at both Kern County Raceway Park and Irwindale Speedway. Prescott has more experience at the Irwindale facility, participating in the “Tour” as well as Late Models at the venue. In Prescott’s three SRL races at Kern, he has averaged a 17th-place finish, but is learning what the team needs from its driver to be successful.
“Kern is a unique racetrack in that I have to approach racing there completely different (than Irwindale Speedway). It’s a difficult track for the driver, with it being inviting to over drive the corners. Missing your marks kills your corner speed. It’s challenging to the driving style. You have to be on it every lap.”
Prescott is a two-time State of California Bandolero Champion with experience in Late Models and Super Late Models at Orange Show Speedway, the Bullring @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Irwindale Speedway. He had a best championship finish of third at Irwindale in 2013, while also finishing sixth at “The Bullring” in 2014. Andre had accumulated a total of four Rookie Awards over his career, but fell one position short to Christian McGhee in his 2016 debut season with the SRL. It was a season in which he finished 10th in the championship standings.
Since 2016, Prescott has participated in a very abbreviated schedule, while taking a break from racing to concentrate on his career, family, and other obligations. The 2021 season found the Prescott beginning the season at Tucson Speedway., earning three top-five finishes in three events, including two third-place results. He made his SRL return at Kern County Raceway in June of 2021, while opening 2022 at Irwindale’s “All-Star Showdown 200”.
Prescott is thankful for the support he has received from family, sponsors and the individuals responsible for helping his efforts.
“I have to thank everyone that helps and supports me and our program”, Prescott began. “I’m so thankful for my dad, mom, wife Ali, and Burgeson’s Heating & Air Conditioning, Electrical, Solar & Plumbing for their continued support. I’d like to also thank Derek Thorn, John Keller and all his guys for getting the car prepared and ready for each race weekend. It takes a lot of time and effort to get to the track and I can’t thank them all enough.”
