Bakersfield, CA – Dustin Ash is currently sixth in the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series standings heading to the 34th Annual “October Classic 134” at Kern County Raceway Park on October 22nd. Ash is a mere two points behind Cale Kanke for a position in the top-five, as they both chase John Moore for the number four slot. After consecutive top-five finishes, the Sigma Performance Services team struggled in the last event at Irwindale Speedway, qualifying an uncharacteristic 18th in the 28-car entry, while finishing 19th. Ash will look to get back on track at KCRP, where he finished fourth in Round #2 of the “JM Environmental Inc Wild West Shootout – Flick the Switch Bulwark ‘FR 100” in June.
Ash is no stranger to success behind the wheel of a Late Model. He has two Super Late Model championships at the Bullring @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway with four total at the facility. He is the all-time wins leader at the track with 72, unofficially. He has two “Fall Open Comp” wins in his Super Late Model, adding another one in his Pro Late Model. At Tucson Speedway., he is a former Chilly Willy 150” winner as well as a “Turkey Shoot 125” winner. He hopes to add an “October Classic” win to his resume on the 22nd.
The “October Classic 134” will take place on October 22nd. It is 134 laps in honor of the 34th annual event. It will pay $7,500 to the winner and $1,200 to start, for those on the Spears Manufacturing Frequent Flyer Program. There will be a break on lap 80 for teams to make adjustments. Spectator Gates officially open at 4:00pm, with Qualifying for the Spears Pro Late Model Series presented by Sigma Performance Services, the Spears Modified Series, and the Spear SRL Southwest Tour Series beginning at 4:20pm. The autograph and on-track trick or treat sessions begin at 5:20pm. Feature events are scheduled for 6:00pm. The LIUNA Feel the Power Fireworks will follow the three feature events.
