Two-time Mesa Marin Super Late Model Track Champion “Hollywood” Dan Holtz will be returning to Bakersfield, CA for the 33rd Annual “Bulwark Protection October Classic 150” at Kern County Raceway Park. The season finale on October 23rd, for the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series, will pay out a possible $10,500 to the winner, which includes $3,500 for the Motor City Throwdown.
Holtz won two championships at Bakersfield’s other half-mile in the early 2000’s. He has victories in both the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour as well as the former NASCAR Southwest Tour Series, one of only eight drivers to do so. His SRL win came at Tucson Speedway in 2016, while his NASCAR win was in 2003 at Mesa Marin. Holtz has 40 starts in the SRL, collecting eight top-five and 17 top-10 finishes to go with his win. Holtz picked up a pole at Kern County Raceway in 2019 and has been quick in both his 2021 starts at the facility, earning a runner-up qualifying effort at the Winter Showdown. Unfortunately, his second Kern start ended in a hard crash that has cost him a large portion of the season.
The Pacific Palisades, CA will look for a comeback this weekend in his Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center, Concrete Motorsports Super Late Model. Willie Allen Racing and WAR Racing Development are handling his racing program.
A strong field of Super Late Models are expected in the final championship race for the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series schedule. The winner could take home $10,500 in the two segmented race, thanks to the Motor City Throwdown Bonus of $3,500. All driver will be eligible for the bonus, that was offered to beat Derek Thorn. Three positioning Heat Races will proceed the “BulWark ‘FR October Classic 150” The Super Late Models will be joined by the Spears Manufacturing Pro Late Models presented by Sigma Performance Services and the Spears Modified Series.
